WVAssessments.com is a side project developed by oil and gas landman and software engineer Jason Cooper. In addition to holding degrees in Software Development and Computer Information Systems, Jason has 9 years of experience as an oil and gas land professional. During his career he has performed and/or reviewed thousands of oil and gas title examinations, successfully managed numerous large-scale title and leasing projects, and founded a prominent oil and gas land services business. Jason Cooper has also used his computer programming abilities to develop custom software, including a system which streamlines his clients' ability to audit revenue statements from royalty and non-operated working interests.
This site was created as a free, donation-supported resource to help West Virginia oil and gas abstractors in their property research. Until now, the primary assessment databases with advanced search functionality (property description search, etc) were offered by Digital Courthouse and Seneca Technologies, both of which charge fees for use. WVAssessments.com was conceived as more of a labor of love than a profit-making venture. Jason Cooper donates his time to build and maintain the site, and covers the monthly server/bandwidth fees to keep it free for everyone. In exchange, he only asks that users consider making an occasional donation to help cover the costs and keep the site alive.
